Dear Andrés,

Hey Andrés! How are you doing? I’m glad to hear from you. I’m also thankful because you wrote telling me about your issue with your schedule, and that this is costing you with your IB studies. Don’t worry; you have time to make things right, and start doing your IB projects. If the problem is, as you said to me, that you don’t have enough time because of your soccer trainings I can help to you because I’m (can) related(relate) with this problem.

The IB requires a lot of your time. In fact, sometimes your weekends are time for studying and working, not for hanging out with your friends. I remember you told me that you’re taking Language A1, Language B, and Design Technology in SL and Math, Physics, and History in HL. Each class has a project that will take hours to do it. Also, you have to do CAS (Creativity, Action, and Service) hours, and finally you must make(write) an Extended Essay and a TOK Essay, so you have a lot to do!

I know you love playing soccer, but you must have priorities, and in this case your IB Diploma is more important than playing soccer. Why? The IB prepares you to college, and you can get a scholarship if you get a really good grade. If you don’t want to quit soccer, you can make a schedule every week containing what you’ll do to get some time to train, but to work too. If you think this will get you really tired, you can also go 4 days to your trainings and rest one day (I recommend you to choose Wednesday if you want this option).

I really think you must get organized if you want to do soccer, and get a good grade in the IB. I also think you have to put a really good effort if you want to stand out in both things. When you think you can’t do both things you need to relax. Things can work out if you do anything you have to do to achieve them! If you need help doing your schedule, talk with your parents, or with your IB coordinator. They can be really helpful! I hope my advices(advice) would help(helps) you with your problem. You know you can write me every time you want. Good luck with everything.

Sincerely,

Eduardo Calderón

Europe trip!

Europe trip!

By: Eduardo Calderón

“Among this trip I realized how much I have to be thankful for.”

Traveling is something exciting, relaxing, and very interesting; meeting knew cultures, making new friends, etc. A trip is one of the best things you can do to be happy because you have the chance to share things with your family or friends. This kind of things makes me think about how a trip can make you realize several things. I will talk about my own experience in my trip to Europe last year, and how this trip influenced me.

Last year I went to Europe with 3 of my classmates and a teacher to participate in a forum in the University of Navarra in Spain, but I also went to Madrid, Barcelona, and Rome. Navarra is a nice place to go. It is quiet, relaxing, and it has a beautiful flora and fauna. Navarra is also a really cold city. Madrid is the capital city from Spain. It is one of the most important cities from Spain, and it is so big. In Madrid you can meet places like Prado’s Museum, Alcalá’s Door, and the Santiago Bernabeú Stadium that is the stadium where Real Madrid (one of the most important soccer teams in the world) plays. Barcelona is the city I liked the most. It is really modern and it has beautiful places to go such as “Catedral de la Sagrada Familia”, and the Camp Nou stadium where the best soccer team in the world plays: the FC Barcelona. The last city I met was Rome. This city is awesome! It’s a city with a lot of history and culture. I met the Coliseum, Tito’s Arc, etc. The Italian food is my favorite, so you can imagine how much I ate there! These things are important in a trip, but there are most important things like what you’ve learned and how a trip influenced you.

This trip had different things that changed me. Among this trip I realized how much I have to be thankful for. My parents work so hard to give me and my siblings all the things we have. They try to make us happy even if we don’t reward them for all they give us, so I started to think that I can reward them by doing the things they ask to me, for example, having good grades and a good relationship with my little brother, obeying them, etc. This trip helped me analyze how my life was.

Europe was a nice experience. It helped me to know about different cultures, meeting new people, improving my English, but the most important thing; it helped me to be more thankful with God and my parents. You don’t have to get on a trip to analyze yourself, you can think about how your life is and how you can improve it!
