Europe trip!

Europe Trip

By: Eduardo Calderón

Hi! My name is Eduardo Calderón and I study at El Roble’s school. Today I want to talk to you about a trip I took last year. My trip was to Europe and It was last year and it was because 3 of my school partners and I qualified to a forum in Navarra’s University and we took this opportunity to know Europe too.

Navarra is a city en Spain so we had to travel to Europe, but we didn’t want to waste this opportunity so we arranged our schedule in a form that we could know another places in Europe besides Navarra. Navarra is a wonderful city that is well-known for the bullfight. It’s really interesting, but you can get hurt. It’s also recognized because of Navarra’s University. This University is one of the most important universities in the world.

Besides Navarra I went to Barcelona, Madrid and Rome. The city I like the most was Barcelona because it is the city of my favorite soccer team (FC Barcelona) and I had the chance to meet the wonderful Barcelona’s stadium. It is called Nou Camp and is one of the most famous stadiums in the world. When I got there I was so excited because I didn’t imagine that I would have this opportunity at my 17 years old. Another wonderful place that I met in Barcelona was “La Sagrada Familia” Cathedral; it is so big and incredible! In Madrid I passed great days too, I met “El Prado’s Museum” that is one of the most recognized museums in Europe (like Louvre’s Museum), Santiago Bernabeu that is Real Madrid’s soccer stadium and the one in which the national soccer team of Spain plays. I have a cousin living in Madrid so I passed a day with him and his family, they are so amazing and I had a great time with them. My cousin’s wife made me a typical plate of Madrid and it was delicious! After I met Madrid and Barcelona I went to Navarra for the forum, it was so incredible! I made friends from other countries and had the opportunity to meet a well-known University. The last city I met was Rome! Can you imagine that? It was so great! I met the Coliseum, the Rome’s soccer stadium, the Vatican, San Pedro’s Basilica and other wonderful places. I also prayed the Angelus with the Pope!

This experience is the best I’ve ever had!: Knowing more about other cultures, making new friends, eating delicious food, being in soccer stadiums. I’m so lucky for having these kind of opportunities If I could do it again, I would do it without thinking about it!

Should mobile phones be banned at school?

This topic question is one of the most polemic of all because students think it isn't bad to use mobile phones but teachers, parents, and principals think different. From my point of view, cellphones shouldn't be banned at school because of the following reasons. First of all, technology is a part of our lives even if we don't want it to, and it is an important part of our daily lives, so telephones have the same importance than computers (they aren't banned at school). Then, students need to communicate with their parents if they need something or they have an emergency. It is easier to send a SMS than going with your coordinator and ask him for a call. Also, cellphones are easy to handle, and if you need to write something you must remember (like a homework, or something you have to make), it is easier to take out your cellphone that your computer or a sheet of paper! Cellphones have more pros than cons, so if your school banned cellphones, speak up and let your principal know your point of view.
